Saying ‘Hello’
Too often, we plow through life at a breakneck speed. Sometimes it’s necessary, but usually we artificially demand life to move at a certain pace. When was the last time that you said “hi” to someone you’ve never met before? It’s funny that some people get startled when you try to start a conversation with them. It’s as if saying “hi” is frowned upon by society. People get the idea that if you talk to them that you have an ulterior motive. Maybe you do, and maybe you don’t. But there’s nothing inherently wrong about just starting a conversation.
So try starting a conversation with someone that you’ve never spoken to, or with someone that you don’t know very well. People lead interesting lives and can be unique sources of information. A good conversation can spark friendships and enrich our lives. Sure, I’ve had many failed attempts at starting a conversation, but I’ve forgotten about them all. On the other hand, I remember all the worthwhile ones.

this is not related to your post (though i definitely agree that unexpected and rich conversations can be drawn from a sincere and inviting “hi”–we often move through our “hectic” lives in such a daze that we fail to notice all the amazing people and conversations that surround us each and every day; it’s often the most fulfilling and memorable aspect of my day, conversation that is–both with friends aannd strangers), but i really like your new front page banner
