Researching Digital Camera Picture Quality
Sometimes if I want to find out how a particular camera’s pictures turn out, I’ll go to flickr.com and just search for the camera model (i.e. – Canon A620). Most of the pictures in flickr are tagged with the camera that they were shot with, so you can easily find out if a camera will produce the right quality pictures for you.
I also like sorting the pictures by “most interesting.” Otherwise, the first couple of pictures are of the camera itself, rather than pictures taken with the camera.

That’s what I do also. In the days before the internet or computers for that matter, I would hang out at a local camera shop and people would drop in to show photos and we could see how a lens would perform as well as ask their opinion on its handling .
